DK Aruna Early life and Education
DK Aruna was born on May 4, 1960, in the family of politics. Her father Chitlem Narsi Reddy and brothers Chitlem Venkateswar Reddy and Ram Mohan Reddy have been in politics and members of the assembly. She studied till intermediate. She got married at the age of 16 to Bharatha Simha Reddy who has been in politics.
Her father and brother were killed by Maoists on I-day in 2005 during celebrations at Narayanpet.
Political Career
She entered into politics by contesting MLA from Gadwal constituency and lost with the slightest margins. Again she contested from Gawal constituency of Mahaboobnagar district in 2004 from the Samajwadi Party and won the seat. In 2009, she contested MLA from the Congress party. She did padayatra from Gadwal to Hyderbad to highlight the water issues being faced by farmers in the Mahaboobnagar district. She lost her MLA from Gadwal to her nephew from the TRS party. Later she joined the BJP party in 2019 and contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Mahabubnagar constituency and she lost it.
She served as minister for information and public relations under the YS Rajashekare Reddy cabinet.
