Akkineni Nagarjuna was born on 29th August 1959 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father’s name is Akkineni Nageswara Rao and his mother’s name is Akkineni Annapurna. After moving to Hyderabad, He completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School. He did further education in Little Flower Junior College, College of Engineering, and Anna University where he completed his Mechanical Engineering.
After that, he went to Eastern Michigan University, Michigan to study Engineering in Automobile. He got married to Lakshmi Daggubati who is the father of D. Ramanaidu. Lakshmi and Nagarjuna have one son and he is Naga Chaitanya who is also an actor. The couple got divorced in 1990 and Nagarjuna married Amala they have a son and he is Akhil who is also an actor.

Nagarjuna debuted in the Movie Industry as a child artist in the movie Sudigundalu. He made his debut as a lead actor with the movie Vikram which is the remake of the movie Hero. He is popularly known for his movies like Ninne Pelladata which won the best feature film in Telugu, Annamayya movie in which he played the lead role of Anammacharya, Siva movie which is directed by Ram Gopal Varma changed the course of the Telugu Film Industry.
He also worked in many other movies like Sri Ramadasu, Shiridi Sai, Rajanna, Om Namo Venkatesaya, President Gari Pellam, Varasudu, Gharana Bullodu, Allari Alludu, Nuvvu Vastavani, Santosham, Manmadhudu, Sivamani, Mass, Manam, Hello Brother, Soggade Chinna Nayana, oopiri, Raju gari gadhi 2, Devadas, Wild Dog.
